Rainer Schnaitmann is a prominent German winemaker and owner of the Weingut Schnaitmann winery, located in Fellbach in the Remstal region near Stuttgart. The family's viticultural heritage spans more than 500 years, with records listing 19 generations of Schnaitmanns as citizens and viticulturists in the village of Fellbach. In 1997, Rainer founded a winery under his own brand, which means a new chapter in the family winemaking tradition.
After graduating in architecture, Rainer focused on oenology, driven by his passion for wine and the desire to explore the potential of the family vineyards. He continued his formal education in viticulture and oenology at the renowned University of Geisenheim and gained practical experience during internships in the Remstal region as well as international internships in New Zealand and South Tyrol.
The innovative approach and the pursuit of quality quickly gained attention. In 2006, Weingut Schnaitmann was accepted into the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP), making it the youngest winery to become a member of this prestigious association at the time.
Under Rainer's leadership, the winery has grown to approximately 26 hectares, all of which are farmed with an emphasis on certified organic and increasingly biodynamic practices. A commitment to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking has resulted in wines that authentically express the region's unique terroir.
Schnaitmann's merits significantly raised the profile of Württemberg wines on the national and international scene. His philosophy emphasizes the harmonious combination of tradition and innovation, striving to produce wines that reflect their origins while expressing his personal vision as a winemaker.
