Located in the Südsteiermark region of Austria, Weingut Tement is a family-run winery known for its exceptional white wines, especially Sauvignon Blanc. The history of the winery dates back to 1959, when Josef and Edina Tement established a small winery on the Zieregg and Grassnitzberg vineyards with an area of only two hectares. After the untimely death of Josef in 1976, their son Manfred Tement, who was 16 years old, took over the winery. Under his leadership, the family expanded its vineyards and gained international recognition for its high-quality wines.
In 2005, Manfred's sons Armin and Stefan joined the winery, bringing new perspectives and a commitment to ecological and biodynamic grape growing. Their commitment to sustainable practices led to the winery's membership in the Demeter association in 2022. Today, Weingut Tement manages approximately 80 hectares of vineyards and focuses on terroir-based wines that reflect the unique characteristics of its region.
The philosophy of the Tement family emphasizes minimal interventions in the vineyard and in the cellar, which allows the natural expression of the grapes and terroir to stand out. Their wines are characterized by purity, elegance and a strong sense of place, making Weingut Tement a benchmark of quality in Austrian winemaking.
