Run by Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber in the valley of the same name, Domäne Wachau produces wines from small, steep vineyards along the Danube, hand-tended by the winegrowing families that own them. Many of these world-famous estates produce wines with great tension and elegance. Grüner Veltliner is the royal grape variety of this great Austrian wine region. This 100% Grüner Veltliner from the terraces of the "Spitzer Graben" is harvested by hand, without insecticides or herbicides. Unfiltered wine Grüner Veltliner Steinwerk 2023 is vinified with autochthonous yeasts in granite and marbled sandstone, offering a clean aroma with aromas of thyme, roasted almonds and pear. It is ideal with Austrian dishes such as spicy beef carpaccio and stuffed veal breast, but it will also go well with Mediterranean dishes such as Ossobuco.

Domaine Wachau

The Domäne Wachau winery is considered one of the most important wine companies in Austria. Here, Roman Horvath and Heinz Frischengruber produce and sell a variety of unique terroir wines from the famous Wachau wine region. The grapes come mostly from small plots on steep slopes, which are difficult to cultivate and are only available in limited quantities, so the demand is often greater than the supply. So if you want to taste these delicious wines, don't hesitate too long.

True craftsmanship, sustainability and biodiversity are the pillars of the work at Domäne Wachau. Most of the terraces are so steep that they can only be worked by hand. But the protection of nature and the biological balance of their homeland is also close to most winegrowers in Domäne Wachau. It is the basis of their economic success and the scenic beauty that makes this region worth living for.

The Dömäne Wachau winery processes grapes from many different parts of the Wachau. The soils and grape varieties are reasonably diverse. However, they all have in common an unusually warm and sheltered microclimate, which makes the Wachau, apart from wine, Austria's most important area for growing apricots, the famous "Wachauer Marillen". However, the typical Austrian wine Grüner Veltliner and Riesling prevail here, as well as gneiss and amphibolite soils. Among the best vineyards of the Domäne Wachau are the world-famous Achleiten, Kellerberg and Singerriedel vineyards. However, it will be best if you taste for yourself which Domäne Wachau wine you personally like best.
